Quality Assurance of Drugs

Quality Checking of Drugs GMSCL assures quality of drugs supply to all Health Institutions of Gujarat Government. This is assured by pre-dispatch testing and testing as per Drugs and cosmetics Act 1940 & rules there under. Thus GMSCL keeps watch on the quality Drugs supply to the Government Health Institutions.

Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Drugs shall have to be received at Regional Warehouse along with the test reports of NABL / Government approved public testing laboratories.
  • Regional Warehouse personnel shall acknowledge the receipt of drugs as per the Rate Contract & Purchase Order.
  • All the receipts except vaccine/sera/imported items/kit shall have to be kept in quarantine.
  • Quality Assurance Branch at Head Quarter have to send sample send request online to Regional Warehouse.
  • Sample shall be drawn by notified Drug Inspector of GMSCL/FDCA from all Regional Warehouse as per D&C Act 1940.
  • Samples will be send to Food and Drugs Laboratory, Vadodara for testing under D&C Act 1940.
  • Form-17 issued by notified Drug Inspector is to be received at Head Quarter.
  • Head Quarter shall acknowledge the receipt of form-17 and releases the drugs.
  • If drugs declared not of standard quality by FDL, Vadodara. Then
  • Immediately online stock shall have to be inactivated and regional ware house and direct demanding officers shall have to be informed by notification on software.
  • Replacement/Recovery Notice will have to be issued to manufacturer for used as well as unused quantity of not of standard quality drug (total supply).
  • Firm will be debarred as per the debarment policy of GMSCL.
  • However, in case of emergency/ epidemic/or any other reason Managing Director of GMSCL reserves the right to release the drugs without sampling if found necessary to do so.
  • In case of complaint from any government institute, immediate action to draw the sample shall have to be taken and testing shall to be carried out on priority basis by FDL.

Quality Control (QC)

  • Samples are drawn from all Regional Ware house as well as health institutes as per D & C Act 1940 and rules thereunder by notified Drug inspector of GMSCL / FDCA
  • If the sample declared not of standard quality then immediately online stock is inactivated by Head Quarter.
  • Regional Ware house and Direct demanding Officers are being informed about NSQ Drug by circular also.
  • Replacement / Recovery notice to be issued to manufacturer for total quantity of supply.
  • Firm is to be debarred as per the debarment policy of GMSCL.
  • In case of complaint from any government institute, immediate action to draw the sample is taken and testing is to be carried out on priority basis.
